Homemade Cherry Turnovers
Ingredients:
-
1 package of puff pastry (2 sheets)
-
1 cup fresh or canned cherry pie filling
-
1 egg (for egg wash)
-
1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)
-
1 cup powdered sugar
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
2-3 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
Instructions:
-
Preheat your oven to 400°F.
-
Thaw the puff pastry sheets according to package instructions and roll them out on a lightly floured surface.
-
Cut each sheet into 4 squares.
-
Place 1-2 tablespoons of cherry filling in the center of each square.
-
Fold the pastry over to make a triangle and press the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges.
-
In a small bowl, beat the egg with the tablespoon of milk. Brush this mixture over the tops of the turnovers.
-
Place the turnovers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
-
While the turnovers are baking, mix the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and 2-3 tablespoons of milk in a bowl to make the glaze. Adjust the milk for desired consistency.
-
Once the turnovers are done and cooled slightly, drizzle the glaze over them.
